My name is Niclas and I’m currently working as an Art Director for Bonnier News in Stockholm. I come from a background of working with graphic design for print, web and motion for both big and small brands. I have worked both with advertisement agencies and as an inhouse designer. During my time as an Art Director at Bonnier News I’ve worked with and developed their visual identity, focusing on improving and designing for several different brands. Some of the brands I’ve been working with are Dagens industri, Resumé, Dagens Media among others. My work includes designing and developing visual strategies and marketing content. Some of the work I do include 2D animation, web- and print design, event planing and film production for different platforms like social media, events, newsletters and print among others. I’m always looking for new techniques and methods. I’ve adopted a learn-by-doing mentality, and am a quick learner regarding almost any visual media. Other than producing graphics or animations and developing new concepts, I’ve also been a design mentor for my colleagues and other external designers working on our projects. I make guides and templates for them to follow and I’m experienced in guiding others, holding workshops and leading design meetings together with other designers in our building. Sustainability is an important part of my work, in both environmental issues as well as social. I believe that both product and marketing should be fair, inclusive and seek to make as small carbon footprint as possible. During my time working for Tekniska verken in Linköping I got a deeper understanding of how both companies and individuals can make a positive impact on the community and environment by looking for green solutions wherever possible. Be it packaging, recycling or joint efforts with other companies. Other than my work and studies, I’m deeply passionate about creating music and visual art as a way to hone my creativity and to express myself. I play in a death metal band from my hometown and am always keen to play live shows whenever possible. In the little free time I have left, you can usually find me nerding out with my board- and card game friends.

BRAND DESIGN
Event and Marketing design for Resumé
During my time as an Art Director at Bonnier News I’ve worked with and developed several brands. Among others Resumé.
The core idea for this project was to create an unique and visually distinct profile for the event and conferences they arrange. Something to make the viewer connect the brand with the message and know instantly that “this is a Resumé event”.

With a focus on heading and the name of the conference I developed a “cut-out” style with the ratio for usage for most platforms. This is to make the header visible on both images and single-colored backgrounds. Making the implementation versitile.
Here you can see several design examples. Among others the intro for a broadcast called “Sound Stockholm” I designed 2021.
Event Design
Since 2019 I’ve worked as an Art Director at Bonnier News with focus on concept and event. Together with marketers I’ve developed concepts for new events and produced both digital and print content. The tempo is high and you have to be comfortable with a fast pace to keep up. Being here for almost two years have made me more agile and I feel that I can meet my clients requests in time and with great quality. Together with a group of Designers and other Art Directors I maintain, update and develop the brands I’m working with. Making sure to instruct the rest of our colleagues how to properly use logotypes, colors and fonts.
Following are some examples of my work with event design and how we use the different brands.
Inhouse & Inhouse Awards 2021
During December 2021 Dagens Media and Resumé held the seminar and award ceremony called Inhouse and Inhouse Awards. An event to give inspiration to, highlight and celebrate successful inhouse teams.
My work was to design a suitable and recognizable theme for communication and marketing before the event as well as the graphics displayed during the event. Including print design, social media marketing and digital signage.
The thought behind the theme and choice of colors was to give a feeling of exclusivety but still having some recognizable elements. Like the office windows in the background.
Female Founders 2020
In fall 2020 Di-Digital is going to host the event “Female Founders”. A pitch-contest with several years to its name, specifically for tech-based startups with primarily female founding members.
Since the themes of previous years have all focused on big, abstract animations I wanted to keep that recognizable element, but give it a twist. Instead of focusing on hard lines and colors primarily ascociated with the tech industry, I wanted to include organic elements. Elements like flowing lines and green gradients. Because a startup company is often organic in structure and nature, being flexible to meet goals and build a business.
For this project designed the theme and produced both print and digital content to promote the event.

Live action editing and post-production
I have worked with live action footage in several different stages throughout my career. For some projects I have done pre-production including storyboarding and location scouting, and for other projects I have handled the camera and shot most of the material myself.
Even if shooting and being on set is both fun and challenging, I prefer to work pre- and post production. Here are some examples of my work where I did just that.

In the final year of my studies at Hyper Island I worked with a team to make two commercials for clients in fashion, tech and entertainment industry.
The first of those two commercials was a short social media ad for the company Figuratic, with the intent to inform the target audience of the purpose and use of their virtual fitting room.

Gigital commercial 2019
The last video we made was another informative ad for a company called Gigital. A digital service for booking bands, artists, DJ’s and entertainers.
We wanted to convey the service they provide through a down-to-earth testimonial. Highlighting one of the artists available for booking.
